am I the only one who feels like most of the songs sound almost the same? the only song i really enjoyed was after hours, which actually sounded kind of unique. i can't even appreciate the storytelling, the toxicity of that story is just repelling to me personally. i much definitely preferred his previous albums.

A great album with a story (though trigger warning for suicide) is mike posner’s operation wake up. I highly recommend it but again if you struggle with suicide it may be triggering it’s pretty graphic for a song.

I think after he overdoses in Faith the rest of the songs in the album are like a drug dream, and like in After Hours he's saying where were you when I needed you most, but he means literally in that moment or in the moments leading up to his overdose. So the end is like him maybe coming out of it and realizing he really might die. Loved your analysis, I didn't notice so many of the little messages and how he really broke up the album with heartless being a turning point

I realize that IGOR came out in 2019 but I really want you to review Tyler, The Creator’s Flower Boy, his 2017 album or IGOR, his 2019 album. They’re both wonderful with story lines much like these. Tyler’s 2013 album Wolf would also be great to review, but I don’t think the content would fit very well with the type of content you make D’angelo.

I hate the saxophone or all brass/wind, honestly but In Your Eyes was so incredible! This whole album was so solid and amazing musically, sonically, vocally... literally no bad tracks, just some even better than others. I've loved his music for years, each album brings something else, but damn his music just keeps getting more enjoyable. Even if it's kinda... dark. I love it. He's so talented.
